29 percent increase in Oil & Gas consumption in India

Optimal use of petroleum products and development of renewable energy like solar & wind are required for oil and gas conservation and environment protection, Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat said here on Thursday.

Inaugurating a month long Oil & Gas Conservation drive”Saksham-2020” he said that the speed with which petroleum products are being used today the oil stock would be depleted within 40 years and the country will have to face tremendous financial burden. India is the third largest user of petroleum products and a huge amount of foreign exchange is spent on it.

The Governor said that small efforts by citizens like use of public transport, switching off lights when not in use, use of natural fertilizers etc. would go a long way in conservation of oil and gas.

onsumption of petroleum products & need to conserve it for future generations & importance of Environment protection. He said that as compared to 2016-17 the consumption of oil and gas in the country in 2018-19 increased by 29 percent which is a matter of concern.

The Oil & Gas Conservation drive has been organized by oil Industry comprising of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., & GAIL (India) Ltd. in association with
