Only 55.55 percent students have passed in 12th general stream in Gujarat, the results of which were declared on Thursday. Though English medium students fared better than Gujarati medium about 1.4 lakh students failed to clear English paper. The result of English medium is 77.37 percent compared to 54 percent of Gujarati medium.
Nanpura centre in Surat posted the highest result with 100 percent passing whereas Lunawada in Mahisagar district had to lowest result of 11.74 percent. The passing percentage of Ahmedabad city is 61.79 while that of rural is 61.14 percent. Dangs district stood first with 77.32 percent while Chhota Udepur recorded lowest pass percentage of 31.54 percent.
Girls again performed better than boys with the passing percentage of girls at 74.78 percent while that of boys was 63.71 percent. A total of 4.76 lakh students appeared for the exams which were held in March by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education board.
This year the number of students failing in one subject is 88,207 compared to 58,961 of last year. 206 schools in the state got 100 percent result while 76 schools had less than 10 percent result. 451 students got A1 grade.
Students will have to apply online on board website www.gseb.org for re checking by 9th June. Students who have failed in one subject will have to apply for re-examination by June 11.
