In a five day medical camp organised by Ahmedabad Medical Association, 580 police women have pledged to donate organs. This is a very big achievement considering the fact that there are 1612 police women in Ahmedabad. AMA had organised the camp for women police of Ahmedabad last month.
Talking about the result of the camp AMA President Mona Desai said that organ donation is a very important activity as it saves many lives. But there is very poor record of organ donation in the country as a result every year about 6000 people die for the want of organs.
In the camp there was Hb and CBC test also. In this it was found that half of the police force in Ahmedabad is anemic . However there is no case of severe anaemia. 56.7 percent of the police force head normal and good blood count.
AMA had organised a breast cancer awareness program also.police women were taught how to examine their breast for early diagnosis of breast cancer. In three cases they detected cancer and all these cases have been taken up for further follow up treatment, she said
