Starting next year Gujarat board students will also study CBSE books. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has decided to use NCERT books for 9th to 12 the standard for Maths, Science and English.
The board has sent a proposal in this regard to the state government. The board is setting up a committee of senior teachers including college professors to translate these books into Gujarati. It will also train teachers to adopt to the new CBSE module and to prepare examination papers, a senior board official said.
This will help students from Gujarat to compete for various eligibility tests like NEET and JEE for admissions for higher studies. If this pilot project is successful then the board would consider introducing these books gradually from 5th standard, he added.
