Gujarat will have three new medical colleges soon. The colleges are proposed in Porbander, Navsari and Narmada districts.
Deputy chief Minister Nitin Patel said that the central government has decided to set up 75 new colleges in such areas where there are no such facilities. Under this scheme 60 percent cost of setting up medical college will be borne by central government while 40 percent by state government.
The state government has been asked to propose five districts to set up colleges. He said that names of remaining two districts will be finalised soon. The state government wants to set up colleges in Mahisagar, Morbi, Aravalli, Botad and Devbhoomi Dwarka as well, Patel added.
