ICG rescues 12 people from a sinking ship

The Indian Coast Guard rescued 12 people on a sinking ship off Okha. The ship carrying cargo and 12 crew members was flooded and started sinking.

The ship MSV Krishna Sudama had sailed from Mundra on Saturday and was proceeding to Djibouti, carrying 905 ton cargo consisting of rice and sugar. Around 9 pm Indian Coast Guard Okha received information regarding flooding of the ship.

Search and rescue was immediately commenced wherein Coast Guard Ship C-411 sailed from Okha, and located the craft carrying 12 crew who had abandonedthe sinking ship.

Coast Guard Ship C-411 undertook valiant operation rescuing all 12 crew under challenging circumstances owing to night hours, floating dangerous debris and unfavorable weather conditions. All 12 rescued crew were brought to okha and are safe.
