An Indoor Cricket Academy will be opened in the premises of Motera stadium on Tuesday. The Academy with five practice pitches has been set up by the Gujarat Cricket Association and is the biggest indoor cricket academy in the country.
Giving details of the Academy, Gujarat Cricket Association President Narhari Amin said that the Academy has been set up in nine months at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. It has turf brought from Australia and the five pitches are for all kind of players. A bowling machine can help individual batsman also, he said.
With this, Amin said, Gujarat has round the clock practice facility for the players. This will be of great help to the players selected for different tournaments. At present Mumbai and Bangalore only have such fully closed structure, but the size in the both the cases is smaller than that of GCA Academy.
The Academy is in 11,000 Sq foot area and the structure is nine meter high in the middle and in other areas its height is six meter.90 ceiling lights are provided for practice during night. Dave Whatmore, Director of National Cricket Academy will inaugurate the Academy on Tuesday evening.
