IOC plans expansion in Gujarat

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has undertaken massive expansion plans in the state which are expected to be completed in next two years. The company plans to increase capacities at its terminals and add more outlets. In addition for safety and plugging leaks e-locking system will be introduced in Gujarat within next three months.

Sharing details about the expansion plans Sanjib Behera GM (RS) GSO said that IOC would spend Rs.35 crore in Ahmedabad terminal, Rs.26 crore in Hazira and Rs.24 crore in Kandla terminal. Capacities would be increased with construction of more tanks.

IOC would also add more retail outlets in the state by March 2020. The slump in automobile industry, fluctuation in crude oil prices globally and promotion of CNG vehicles has affected margins of the oil industry and growth rate has seen a decline from 7-8 percent to 2-3 percent.

The state will soon have e-locking system for tank trucks which will ensure safety and prevent theft. The system has been introduced in some states and has been running successfully. With this no one can open tank truck before it reaches final destination.

IOC has the largest market share-44 percent and out of total capacity of 230 MT share of IOC is 90 MT. It also has the biggest infrastructure.

On other hand the company is adopting smart technology and making its terminals smart and green. As part of this initiative Sidhpur terminal in Gujarat has been made Smart with total automation improving productivity and safety.

With Smart terminal concept there are numerous benefits like transparency, ease of doing business, worker friendly system, improvement in productivity and safety. It has replaced paper indents by digital SMS indents. Similarly conventional safety monitoring systems have been replaced by auto overspill protection system , auto fire fighting system , auto leak detection system and smart earthing system have strengthen the safety management at the terminal.

Terminal is committed to supply BS VI grade of fuel to market w.e.f. 01.04.2020, which will further make our environment green and reduce carbon footprint. S.K Priyadarshi, DGM, Sidhpur Terminal, said,” IOC being a responsible energy company, Sidhpur Terminal is committed to supply fuel ensuring all its operation safe, environment  friendly, and ensuring development of society through social welfare activities”.
