Justice Ramayyagari Subhash Reddy, Judge of the High Court Telangana / Andhra Pradesh has been appointed Chief Justice of the Gujarat high Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office. He will replace acting Chief Justice Jayant Patel who has been transferred to Karnataka High Court.
Gujarat HC did not have regular Chief Justice since 2014 when Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya retired. Two other judges of Gujarat cadre have been transferred here. They are Justice P P Bhatt from Jharkhand High Court and Justice Bela Trivedi from Rajasthan HC. With this the strength of judges would increase to 30 while the sanctioned number is 54.
