Mundra port has handled a record 111,699 MT of steam coal in 24 hours setting a new record.
It surpassed Krishnapattinam Port’s national record of 106,171 MT and its own record of 95,000 MT, an official release of Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone said.
The capacity of the west basin terminal is being expanded from present 1.6 MT to 3.2 MT per day. The import terminal at Dahej port has been connected by Railways which will help reducing logistics for transporting coal in the country. “Coal is India’s most affordable fuel and Mundra port is committed to bring down costs by supplying this fuel”, said Dr. Malay Mahadevia, Wholetime Director at MPSEZ. The port has been set up by Adani group.
