The Gujarat government has permitted private laboratories to conduct rapid antigen tests for Covid-19. District Health officer and civic health officers have been authorised to give permission to labs.
The government has fixed the rates also. Accordingly Rs.450 will be charged for ELISA test for anti-body. In case of collection of samples from home Rs.550 will be charged. The rate for CLIA anti-body test for laboratory will be Rs.500 and for sample collection it will be Rs.600. if any laboratory is found charging extra then its approval will be canceled.
Earlier government had allowed many private labs to conduct RTPCR tests. Now labs can conduct fast result yielding rapid tests. According to a release from health department the laboratory should have a MD pathologist and MD microbiologist. The labs will have to provide details of the tests being done to respective health officers the same day.
