The state government has announced Rs4 lakh each as compensation to kin of two persons who died during amusement ride in Kankaria on Sunday. The government has also set up a committee to frame laws for amusement parks and rides.
This was stated by Minister of State for home Pradipsinh Jadeja in the Assembly while replying to a debate on the incident on 116 notice. He said that the government is taking all necessary actions to prevent such incidents in future. He said that new strict rules at par with foreign countries will be framed for amusement rides. A committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Home will be set up for the purpose. After its report new guidelines will be set up.
He said that the government has ordered checking of all the rides in the state. Police commisisoners and district magistrate have been instructed to order immediate of rides which are being operated without permission.
The committee including Additional Chief Secretary(ACS) of Home department, ACS Urban development, AMC commissioner, Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad, Secretary of Roads and Building department and Law secretary will go into the details of safety, design, machinery and other aspects related to amusement parks and rides and suggest laws
The committee This committee will suggest a system on the basis of best practices globally in place for safety, inspection and other aspects related to amusement parks.
