The state government has decided not to extend vacations in schools- colleges. They are schedules to re-open from June 10. Few school managements had demanded extension of vacation due to extreme heat conditions.
State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma said that schools will re-open as per schedule. The minister said that schools can adjust timings to avoid heat. Half day morning schools can be run for few days, he added.
Though some school managements had protested the proposal saying that it would affect studies and course would not be completed on time. One more reason for extension of vacation is that municipal corporation has demolished portions of several schools in the city for fire safety. Illegal roof top constructions have been pulled down and now schools have to create additional spaces in the buildings.
This year Gujarat Education Board had asked the government to cancel Navratri vacation as schools have problems in conducting examinations and less time is available for completing course. But the government rejected the proposal and has announced 8 days Navratri vacation.
