The Gujarat government will ‘take care’ of senior citizens by providing them medical services at home at token rate. A team of medical staff will visit senior cirtizens home every fortnight and keep track of their health.
Deputy Chief Minister and health minister Nitin Patel said that a pilot project would be launched in Gandhinagar. Senior citizens above 70 years will have to register at the civil hospital and pay a token fees of Rs.1,000. A medical team of doctor, nurse and attendant will visit the elderly people with BP machines, ECG and inhaler etc.
A record of medical statistics will be kept and treatment would be given accordingly, he said. In case of emergency a token fees of Rs. 200 would be taken and various tests would be conducted. If needed the patients would be taken to hospital and taken care.
