The Gujarat government has announced subsidy for e-vehicles. Accordingly school and college students will get a subsidy of Rs.20,000. This scheme has been launched to mark completion of 11 years of climate change department in the state.
Rickshaw drivers and other self employed persons buying electric three wheelers will get a subsidy of Rs.48,000 per vehicle. Public charging stations will be set up in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat. Rs.50 lakhs has been earmarked for the purpose.
Gujarat has a target of having 10,000 electric two wheelers and 5,000 three wheelers in current year on roads. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that this will help reduce pollution caused due to fossil fuel.
