
Italy Opens Doors for Rajasthan Handcraft, Textile, and Marbles
For the first time, Jaipur rugs introduced the essence of Rajasthan to Milan, marking a significant milestone for the state’s handcraft and textile trade in Europe. A curated selection of handcrafted carpets, each embodying tradition and expertise, was exhibited in Milan, Italy’s renowned fashion hub. Additionally, 33 marble exhibitions from Rajasthan attracted the attention of Italian architects and designers, following a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The inaugural ‘Namaste India’ two-day exhibition commenced with a traditional Indian Pooja in Milan on June 19. Emanuela Sabbatini, Business Development Manager of the India Italian Chamber of Commerce (IICCI) and its representative in Italy, In an exclusive interview stated, “The response was good, and European companies wanted to trade with India to understand this dynamic culture of Rajasthan and India.” She further remarked, “Namaste India Milano 2025 wasn’t just a showcase; it was a celebration of connection—between people, economies, and two cultures with shared values and ambitions.
India and Italy are now closer than ever. And together, they are looking forward.”, Sabbatini added, “The world fashion city of Milan opened its heart to India with this successful showcasing of Namaste India. We really have combined economic dialogue, cultural depth, and lifestyle excellence.” She mentioned that companies such as Uasharth Wellness Solution, Octa Jewels, Sennes, SABA Export, and Pretty Lady participated in the showcase, attracting business interests in Italy. “The event was hosted at the historic Palazzo Giureconsultu and celebrated the vibrant and growing partnership between India and Italy with the support of Promos Italia and key Indian institutions,” she continued.
Over 15 Indian companies held B2B meetings with Italian stakeholders in design, fashion, hospitality, and furniture sectors. Sabbatini noted, “There was Royal Enfield, which showcased two of its iconic motorcycles, drawing enthusiasts and business interest alike. Jaipur rugs brought the soul of Rajasthan to Milan with carpets. These were just some of the many brands that embodied the creativity, heritage, and quality of Made in India excellence.” The event concluded with a fashion show featuring Troy Costa, the Goan designer renowned for dressing Indian celebrities.
The participation of these brands highlighted the increasing interest in deeper economic, cultural, and creative collaboration between Italy and India. Namaste India Milano reaffirmed its role as a strategic platform for building bridges, fostering opportunities, and celebrating shared excellence. The event began with a traditional Indian Pooja, attended by Consul General of India in Milan Lavanya Kumar, President IICCI Alessandro Giuliani, CEO and Secretary General IICCI Claudio Maffioletti, and Deputy Secretary General and CFO IICCI Priyanka Singh. “The celebration continued with a stunning classical Indian dance performance by Shilpa Bertuletti, before leading into the business conference ‘India and Italy: an exceptional potential still largely untapped’,” added Sabbatini.
